#wherehaveyoureyesbeen

I’m amazed today. As much as my heart wrenches for every child lost in war, I cannot unsee the political motives, terrorism and fear which fuelled it because only if that is taken in account can any resolve be reached. That is how world works, at least that is what I have seen, except when you let yourself get walked over each time.

I remember 7th October, 2023 and the weeks that followed, I had tears every time I went through the pictures that were coming out, of hostages and the people being killed by Hamas, including beheaded children and raped women. Mind you, Israel hardly released any torture videos of their civilians as respect, the ones that were out ,were posted by Hamas itself to show off what they have accomplished. That was the level of brutality the world turned a blind eye to.

Many Israelis I follow, were posting day in and day out to just prove that they were suffering in real but no one held their voice here on social media.Let me phrase it this way, “the silence was so loud”, yet again. Days and months that followed we saw Israel standing up from the suffering and world amnesia it faced, launching “Operation Iron Swords” to get back at the “Hamas terrorists” for release of hostages, more than 100 of which are still being held.

Local Palestinians were informed each time before the attack to clear areas, while there was no obligation, empathy was showered. Fake news was spread by the BBC about targeted attacks on locals while it turned out to be Hamas’s own blasts, well no one talked about that after this. While writing , I know I can be countered on every single line with “ but babies were burnt”, I want to ask ,what shell are we living in ,choosing what child we’ll support? I will never selectively blind myself to the suffering of any child but it was done by the world and I see it yet again.

In words of Golda Meir “ We can forgive Arabs for killing our children. We cannot forgive them for forcing us to kill their children. We will only have peace with Arabs when they love their children more than they hate us.” Israel has chosen not to get walked over simply.

It is heartbreaking to witness a world so plastic, following trends and being manipulated into not seeing everything, black mirror is indeed a reality now. One cannot and must not try to erase the past merely because it does not fit the present. My heart aches for “every” child killed and I will continue be objective and informed before I put any opinion out about an issue so sensitive. Please read.
